Happy New Year and may this year bring many happy memories, a multitude of experiences to create positive connections with others, and opportunities for growth both academically and personally.
6th Grade
As we move into a new year, finish our current novel, begin a new novel, engage in Socratic Seminars and debates, continue our Greek and Latin root work, and dig into some grammar skills and techniques. In continuing with the grade level focus of personal responsibility, we will continue to have our lesson support the ASPIRE goals of the school in connection with the standards.
7th Grade
Our current novel has provided many opportunities to think about our own journeys and how we are in tune with our own coming of age journeys. In support of the grade level focus of coming of age, we will continue to explore the many ways we find our own paths through novels and classroom experiences. Each one of these experiences will provide the opportunity to focus on the standards and support our individual needs as well. In addition, we will continue our work with our speaking and listening skills with Socratic Seminars and debates.
8th Grade
Upon the completion of our novel, we are moving into how to express our connections and understanding of the grade level focus of social injustice. Students will engage in an in-depth research project in support of this theme and with the help of our new technology, and they will be presenting their information in a creative and technology-based manner. In addition, we will dig into a new novel, continue exploring grammar, engaging in Socratic Seminars, and debates as well.
