APRIL

Hello Campus Middle School Family,

As we start the fourth quarter, I hope all our students and families had a chance to get some well-deserved rest.  You've earned it!  I want to thank our dedicated staff members led by our assistant principal, Elizabeth Garcia, 8th counselor, Sharon Snyder, 8th grade teacher sponsors, Susan Burrows, Steve Weiss, Jill Ham, Derrick Bergstrom, Michelle Spears, and Kim Johns.  During Spring break, these staff members chaperoned 81 students to Washington DC on a very successful 8th grade trip.

Our administrators will be making their 4th quarter rounds of "team talk" with our students focusing on topics that will include among others, finishing the year strong academically and dress code reminders for spring.  As the temperature rises we typically find students may need reminders of what outfits are appropriate for school. A quick reference can be found in your student's Action Agenda.

Celebrations

I am very proud to announce several celebrations bestowed on members of our Campus Middle School family.  Stephanie Whittelsey is our 2014 Campus Middle School Exceptional Volunteer.  Stephanie is a vital part of our library and works tirelessly to help our students access all the media that makes our library the best in the district.  Stephanie will be honored at the Wendy DeBell Exceptional Volunteer Awards Reception on April 24.

Our very own Learning Specialist, Annemarie Dempsey is an outstanding research-award recipient from the 2013 Math on the "Planes" conference.  Congratulations Annemarie!

Last but certainly not least, 7th grade Social Studies teacher Garrett Weekley is a 2014 Golden Heart Award recipient.  Garrett is a larger than life member of our faculty who more often than not can be found in our Individualized Learning Center classroom working with our special needs students.  Mr. Weekley's commanding presence and voice is only matched by his love and commitment to our special needs kids.  Thank you and congratulations Garrett.

Finally, I want to encourage you to express your voice in any of the parent groups here at Campus Middle School. I would ask that you attend PTO Meetings, Accountability Meetings, and our PASS Meetings, whenever possible. Dates and times for all parent meetings can be found on the calendar on the main page.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

 Sincerely,

 Enrique Rosales

MARCH

I would like to start this month's principal message highlighting some of the amazing things our students are doing around town. Our students did very well representing Campus again this year at the Cherry Creek District Spelling Bee. Our students placed 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 10th place! Good luck to Cat Jafek, Dai An Jiang, Stephen Sigman, and Austen Mazenko.  These students will compete at the State Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 8.

Our Campus Middle School Brain Bowl team did an amazing job at the State Tournament. Our 6th grade team placed 7th in the State while our 8th grade team placed 2nd in the State and now have the opportunity to compete in the regional completion at the end of the year. You can read more about these incredible kids and more in our Campus All Stars Link

I am very proud to announce that Campus has one again been named a John Irwin School of Excellence. The John Irwin awards are given to schools that demonstrate excellent academic achievement. Campus Middle School has received this very special award every year since its inception in 2001. Congratulations to all our incredible faculty, students, and families.

It's time for TCAP testing again. Our testing dates this year are March 11-13. We ask that you keep this in mind when scheduling appointments or other commitments that may require your student to be out of the building during those days.

As always, please make sure you students have good night sleep and a nutritious breakfast that's low in sugar to avoid quick energy boosts followed by a rapid drop in concentration.

Finally, I want to encourage you to express your voice in any of the parent groups here at Campus Middle School. I would ask that you attend PTO Meetings, Accountability Meetings, and our PASS Meetings, whenever possible. Dates and times for all parent meetings can be found on the calendar on the Campus website main page.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Dr. Enrique Rosales
