Advanced Options 6:  The students in Advanced Options have begun to brainstorm some areas for research.  Research topics and research questions are due on Friday, November 15.  The students will be presenting their research the last week in the quarter during 6th period. Please ask your child about their presentation date.

Times of Change:  Vietnam & the 1960s: During the first week of this class the students learned about major events from the 1950s, the fearful, fabulous and forgotten 1950s.  Now the students are on their way to learning about the major events in the 1960s.  We will be making our way through the elections, the civil rights movements, the assassinations, and landing on the moon.

Advanced Options 8:  The students in Advanced Options have begun to brainstorm some areas for research.  Research topics and research questions are due on Friday, November 15.  The students will be presenting their research the last week in the quarter during 1st period. Please ask your child about their presentation date.

Creative Writing 8:  The students in Creative Writing are learning about how to run a successful writers workshop.  The first part of the quarter the students will be working on Reject a Hit letters, Fairy Tale parodies, and writing Amazon reviews.

Building a Better Community:  We had a successful quarter.  The students were successful in many areas.  Three students collected over 300 books and donated them to a local school.  Two students scheduled a screening of “Girl Rising” and had over 100 people attend.  We had a group of students represent our class at the Walk for Sudan.  Along with these accomplishments, the class collected ten large boxes of clothing that was donated to the Red Cross to help victims of the floods.  All the students in this class should be proud of their accomplishments.  Please see Mrs. Bainbridge if you are interested in continuing our work as part of an after school group.
