CCSD Educators Named Colorado Avalanche Most Valuable Teachers
Out of hundreds of educators across the Denver Metro Area, only six teachers or school administrators are selected each year for the Colorado Avalanche Most Valuable Teacher (MVT) Award and so far this school year, two Cherry Creek School District educators earned that honor.
The Colorado Avalanche MVT program, presented by Ford, recognizes educators who excel at empowering youth, promoting leadership, and creating inclusive learning environments. Each month during a six-month period, one outstanding teacher or administrator is celebrated for their impact on students and school communities.
This January, Andrew Rauluk, a science teacher at Smoky Hill High School, was honored for the engaging and interactive learning experiences he brings to his biology classroom. In just his second year at Smoky Hill, Rauluk has energized students through hands-on instruction and strong connections that make science come alive.

In December, Alexandria Melisaratos, an AVID teacher at Campus Middle School, was recognized for her dedication, passion, and meaningful impact on students. Through her work, Melisaratos supports students in building academic skills, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging.

Teachers selected as Colorado Avalanche MVT receive a $2,000 classroom improvement grant, signed Avalanche memorabilia, Avalanche gifts for themselves and their students, tickets to a game, and recognition during a Colorado Avalanche home game, including a moment on the jumbotron in front of thousands of fans. Each honoree is also surprised with a classroom celebration hosted by Avalanche representatives, turning an ordinary school day into an unforgettable experience for students and staff alike.
With only six educators recognized statewide each year, having two Cherry Creek Schools teachers selected in the same school year reflects the dedication, care, and impact CCSD educators bring to their classrooms every day, often far beyond what is seen.
Nominations for the Colorado Avalanche Most Valuable Teacher Award are accepted annually. Community members can submit nominations to help recognize Colorado educators who are making a difference for students and school communities across the state.
